Tesco vouchers for schools are now in store 31st March 2011

We are again collecting Tesco vouchers for schools.
Please help us! The collection boxes can be found at the school's main entrance and in the IT room.
This year we intend to spend the vouchers on equipment for the eco-garden and for IT.

FORENSIC SCIENTISTS WIN 2ND PLACE. 13th April 2011

Harry Songhurst, Maddy Wright, Joe Barnwell and Jake Davies from year 8 attended the Salter's Festival of Chemistry at Bangor University this week. The competition is run by the RSC and involves the students solving the murder of Captain Salter by carrying out forensic chemistry tests and analysing the results to discover who is guilty of the crime. The team won 2nd place in the competition-watch out CSI miami the St Gerard's scientists are after your jobs!!

TOP OF THE BENCH 13th April 2011

Having won the regional heat for the RSC Top Of The Bench competition in January; Hannah Niesser (yr11) Katy Spain (yr10) Tom Radley (yr9) and Ffion Hughes (yr 9) attended the final which was held in The Imperial College,London last month. The students were assessed on their chemical knowledge and then had to work together as a team to carry out a titration practical. The competition was tough and the students were ranked 13th out of the 29 schools that attended. Hannah Niesser won the Jacqui Clee Award which is awarded to the student who made an outstanding individual contribution to the day. Well done to all the team on their fantastic achievement.

The last weeks before the summer ............. 7th June 2011

A lot of events are happening these last five weeks; Athletics competitions, Science trip, joined History and Geography trip for year 8, the Conwy centre activity day for years 7-9 and of course the usual end of year activities. The calendar will be kept up-to-date with all of these events.

The Yearbook 2010-2011 needs you! 7th June 2011

Work has started on the yearbook. Please help us create a book full of your impressions of this year. Do contact Mrs Williams or Mrs van Kampen, if you'd like to contribute in any way to the school's yearbook; Pictures, poems, stories, awards etc. are all very welcome.

Trip to Wimbledon 24th June 2011

St Gerard’s school took eight pupils to London to watch the tennis at Wimbledon. Pupils were selected on their attendance in the tennis extra-curricular club and their dedication and commit to physical education throughout the year.
The school had tickets for No 1 Court, where we saw Novak Djokovic beat Kevin Anderson and then Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat Grigor Dimitrov .We also saw Jamie Murray (Andy’s brother) play his doubles match on court 7 and even bumped into Serena and Venus Williams father when going for some ‘Strawberries and Cream’.
A fun day for all.

Junior and Senior School sports days 29th June 2011

Both of the sports days were a great success. The weather was good and everyone participated in good spirit.

You'll have to wait until next week for the house results.
Who's winning ....................

Open Evening 20th October 3:30 to 6:30 pm 17th October 2011

This year's Open Evening will be on Thursday 20th October. Parents and future parents are very welcome to visit the school and interrogate teachers and pupils. Subjects will have special displays and possibly some games to show off the pupil's work.
