School Closure - snow

5th January, 2010

School Closure - snow (enlarge photo)

We felt the safest option today (5th Jan) was to shut the school at lunchtime, in common with other schools in the area.

As more snow is forecast in the coming 24 hours, we advise parents to make a decision depending upon the situation in their locality because circumstances vary quite significantly within our catchment area. The essential element to bear in mind is not the pupil's ability to get into school but the return at the end of the day.

Staff, too, are subject to the same weather conditions and their absence affects the school's ability to function and take care of those pupils who do come into school.

We will keep you informed on this website and at least some staff will be here tomorrow morning. Please make the best informed and common sense decision for your particular area.

Convent Lane proved to be very tricky to negotiate this morning, so please drop children off at the top of the senior school drive and let them come by foot into school. This applies to both junior and senior school pupils.
