After a day of training (and several lunchtimes planning routes and preparing) thirty-seven students from Years 9 and 10 finally departed for the north Anglesey coast for their practice expedition.
The weather was perfect and the groups were treated to a stunning sunset across the Irish Sea as they prepared to spend the night at the glorious Pen Graig campsite. Despite a steep learning curve, the group had a fantastic two days honing their navigation, camping (and cooking) and teamwork skills, and were a credit to St Gerard’s.
Students now have to prepare for the assessed Expeditions, which will take place on Friday 24 to Saturday 25 June (Y9) and Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 July (Y10).
Thank you to Mrs Parker, Mr Byrne, Ms Thomson and Mr Smith for all their help and support.
