
“The Dirt Is Good Schools Programme sponsored by Persil has provided us with the framework for Citizenship and Life Skills lessons for the whole year and has got the whole school thinking about the outside. The students who have struggled in other academic areas, have really, really flourished.
The Changemakers have been busy transforming their outdoor space from a grey concrete area to a stimulating, sustainable space where children and wildlife can coexist.
They focused on reusing and recycling materials, receiving donations from community organisations such as tyres from the local garages and pallets from the local hospital, which they turned into planters. They also created tomato green houses using an old clothes rail and skirting board.
