In English, Year 8 are focussing on ‘place’ as the underlying theme of their Creative Writing unit – part of a suite of Key Stage 3 units related to the concept of growing up in Wales.
What could be better inspiration than a trip to Newborough, focussing on Llandwyn Island, with its connection to the poignant tale of Santus Dwynwen? Students were treated to a storytelling session by Mrs Tough before we let them loose to explore the area, soak up the atmosphere and collect the sights, sounds and other sensory inputs of this beautiful part of Anglesey. The notes and sketches they made during the trip will hopefully provide the basic building blocks for their next atmospheric tales in the unit.  We hope that by then, Alex’s wellies will have dried out!
The students behaved impeccably; it was a real pleasure to give them this experience. Thank you, everyone.
